Concrete Driveway and Flatwork Replacement in College Hill, Topeka, KS

Topeka Concrete Pros replaces concrete driveways and flatwork in the College Hill neighborhood of Topeka, Kansas, in Shawnee County. We are a licensed and insured concrete contractor. We tear out and repour driveways, walks, patios, steps, and garage slabs for the older homes just north of Washburn University.

College Hill was laid out in 1880 to house Washburn faculty, and its shade trees were planted then. Those trees are the neighborhood's signature and the flatwork's problem. Roots have grown under driveways and walks and heaved panels apart at the joints. On slabs poured generations ago, the surface has also started to scale where road salt and freeze-thaw work into concrete that was never air-entrained.

We take those slabs out rather than shave the high side down. Grinding a root-lifted panel lasts a season, because the root keeps growing. Replacement removes the slab, cuts the roots back under it, and rebuilds the ground. We compact the subgrade, lay a crushed-stone base that drains, and pour 4000 PSI air-entrained concrete reinforced with mesh or rebar. Control joints go in every ten feet or so, and the surface is pitched to carry water away from the foundation.

College Hill work runs from driveway replacement to sidewalk and walkway replacement and patio replacement. Call (785) 555-0172 for a free estimate in College Hill.
